This completes the trilogy of these 19th Century holy cards restorations which featured gold filigree around the central mandorla (the large body halo, shaped like parentheses), the other two being Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart, showing them both holding the baby boy Jesus.

The Sacred Heart—which is the interior life of Jesus, his thoughts, will, and emotions, which he marvelously invites us in to share—was a very popular devotion in the 19th Century. There is a beautiful litany of the Sacred Heart we say at our church sometimes, very traditional, which we have shortened a bit to fit it on the back of this beautiful card. We think you will find it spiritually strengthening and bring you closer to our Lord. Peace be with you.
